STRUCTURAL DESCRIPTION

Adamax is supplied in our proprietary nasal vehicle built around a cyclodextrin-based inclusion-complex system. The vehicle was designed specifically to solubilise the lipophilic adamantyl portion of the active and to maintain stability in an aqueous, nasal-tolerable medium.

MECHANISM IN RESEARCH CONTEXT

The active is complexed with HP-β-cyclodextrin, with chitosan as a mucoadhesive and absorption enhancer, HPMC as a viscosity modifier, in an isotonic buffered base at pH 5.5–6.5. See the Enhanced Delivery Mechanism section below for full vehicle composition.

ENHANCED DELIVERY MECHANISM

Adamax Nasal Vehicle

Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides used as pharmaceutical excipients to improve drug solubility, stability, and bioavailability. They feature a hydrophilic outer surface and a lipophilic inner cavity, allowing them to form inclusion complexes that act as molecular shields for drug molecules. The Adamax vehicle was engineered around this principle.

HP-β-cyclodextrin
Solubilizer & inclusion-complex carrier

A cyclodextrin — a cyclic oligosaccharide carrier molecule. It forms an inclusion complex with the lipophilic adamantyl portion, acting as a molecular shield that improves aqueous solubility and stability.

Chitosan
Mucoadhesive + absorption enhancer

A natural cationic polysaccharide that helps the formulation remain in contact with the nasal mucosa and improves permeation across the mucosal layer.

HPMC
Viscosity modifier

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose — a mild mucoadhesive that supports even distribution and keeps the formulation from running off.

Isotonic buffered base
Aqueous vehicle

An aqueous base matched to physiological salt concentration so the formulation is nasal-tolerable.

pH 5.5 – 6.5 buffer
Mucosal comfort & stability

Tuned to the natural nasal pH range for tolerability and chemical stability of the active.

Poloxamer 188 / Polysorbate 80 (optional)
Mild surfactant

Helps disperse the active uniformly throughout the vehicle.

EDTA / citrate / antioxidant (optional)
Stabilizer system

Protects the formulation from oxidative and trace-metal degradation over its shelf life.

Sterile water base
Solvent

USP-grade sterile water as the bulk solvent.

Preservative-free single-use (or nasal-safe preservative for multidose)
Microbial control

Single-use format avoids preservatives entirely; multidose formats use nasal-tolerable preservation only.
